Who this policy is from

SOLS edu (“we”, “us” or “our”) is operated by Science of Life Systems 247 Sdn. Bhd., a company registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia under 200601003840 (723587-M). It licenses SOLS edu free of charge to SOLS Foundation, a tax-exempt not-for-profit registered under 200801009737 (811025-T). SOLS edu does not have a commercial purpose.

We are committed to complying with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), and with its guidelines and orders.

What this policy covers

This policy covers this website only. It is a corporate website: there is nothing to sign in to, nothing to buy, and nothing you can publish on it.

Our two free apps are separate services with their own privacy policies, which govern anything you do inside them, including your account, your learning progress and how to delete both:

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us. If you fill in the form on our contact page, we receive:

• your first and last name;
• your email address;
• your phone number; and
• the message you write.

We ask for nothing else, and no part of this website asks you to upload a document or create a profile.

Your IP address is sent along with the form. The form is submitted from our server rather than from your browser, so without it our provider records our server as the sender instead of you. We do not use it to identify you.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how it is used. They let us compile aggregate statistics, such as which pages are read and how visitors arrive, so we can improve the site. This is counting, not profiling: we do not use it to build a picture of you as an individual.

We run advertising through the Google Ad Grants programme, which gives eligible non-profits free search advertising. Google may set cookies to measure whether an advertisement led someone to this site. You can control what Google does with this through your Google Ad Settings, and you can opt out of analytics cookies entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

You can also set your browser to warn you before accepting a cookie, or to refuse cookies altogether. Every page on this site is readable with cookies switched off.

How we use what you send us

We use the details from the contact form to:

• reply to your enquiry; and
• follow up on it by email or phone if we need to.

We do not add you to a mailing list because you contacted us, and this website has no newsletter to sign up to.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, trade or rent your personal data. Contact form submissions are handled by HubSpot, our customer relationship management provider, which processes them on our behalf. We may also share your details within the SOLS group of organisations where that is what answering your enquiry requires.

In exceptional circumstances we may disclose personal data where the law requires it, or where there are grounds to believe disclosure is necessary to prevent a threat to life or health.

Third-party links

This website links out to our own apps and to other organisations we work with. Once you follow a link you are on somebody else’s site, under their privacy policy, and we have no control over what they collect. We encourage you to read it.

Your rights

You may ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to our using it. Write to solsedu@solsedu.com and we will respond. If you believe your privacy has been breached, tell us at the same address and we will look into it.

How we protect and keep it

We store personal data securely and take reasonable steps to protect it against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration. We keep it only for as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry, or for as long as the law requires, and we may keep aggregated statistics that can no longer identify anyone.

There are places we cannot delete from on your behalf. If you have also written to us through WhatsApp, social media or a third-party form, that copy sits on that platform. Tell us which one and we will help you get it removed.

Children

This website is written for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Any change is published on this page and the date at the top changes with it, so that date tells you which version you are reading.
